Tomo&Chouchou went to Amiens for hiking and projection mapping show. We were looking forward to seeing projection mapping show of Amiens Cathedral. Amiens Cathedral is the tallest cathedral in France, so it's already impressive. But Amiens Cathedral was totally different from usual. 

Music was playing during the show. So the show was more fantastic. The color of Amiens Cathedral changed every minutes. The Cathedral looked different every minutes. Each moment of Cathedral was beautiful. So we couldn't stop taking photos. It was very colorful. We could see saints more clearly. Facade was extremely beautiful. It was really worth to see it. We could only see it once because it was group tour. If it was not group tour, we would have watched it over and over again. Anyway we had a great Christmas time in Amiens!

Episode of The Osaka Festival of Lights

Tomo&Chouchou went to the Osaka Festival of Lights in 2019. Tomo&Chouchou had ever been to this festival before. The Osaka Festival of Lights are held in downtown, and also in business area, in Osaka. This festival is held around Osaka City Hall and Nakanoshima park. So many people can pass and enjoy illumination easily.

Tomo&Chouchou waited until it became dark. Then we went to the Nakanoshima park. Entrace gate at Nakanoshima illumination street was beautilly illuminated. The color of lights changed blue, white and yellow. We stopped for a while to enjoy all the colors. Nakanoshima illumination street is 150m length and there are rows of Keyaki tress.

Next we saw the Lanthanum art of Tainan called "Tainan Mausoleum of Lights [Japanese: 台南・光の廟埕". It was the exchange program of lights with Taiwan. It was fantastic. It's different from ordinary Christmas illumination in Japan. But it was special and enjoyable. We could enjoy Asiasn illumination there.

We decided to move to Nakanoshima Rose Garden area. French avenue was the place to access there. But it was crowded so we decided to accesss from riverside. We were happily suprised to find the illumination of the buildings and boat. It was quiet and romantic. We felt we found the secret route. We enjoyed special illumination of Osaka Exchange, Inc. [Japanese: 大阪取引所] too.

We arrived Nakanoshima Rose Garden area. We found big snowmans there. We also found many light balloons drawn by local children. It was like a fairy tale. It was art smile project called "Hikari no mi [Japanese: ひかりの実]". It was a nice project.

We went back to the main area in Nakanoshima park and enjoyed Art of Light -Project Mapping-. It was spectacular. We saw it several times. We spent lots of time there.

In front of Osaka City Central Public Hall, there was the illuminated street called "France Avenue". 

There were some food and drink stands near the main area. 

After enjoying illumination, we followed the instruction to the exit. Then we came back to Midosuji street. It was in front of Osak City Hall. We enjoyed illuminated facade of Osaka City Hall at the end. Every year, it changed according to the concept. It's excited to see it every year.

Then we followed Midosuji street until Shinsaibashi station. Midosuji illumination is held between Yodoyabashi to Namba. The color changed depending on the area. In 2019, we could enjoy blue, purble, gold, pink and mixed illumination. 

We could really enjoy Christmas atmosphere there.

Tomo&Chouchou went to the Osaka Festival of Lights [Japanese: Osaka Hikari-Renaissance, OSAKA光のルネサンス] in 2019. At that time, Art of Light ~Projection Mapping~ was the main show. Tomo&Chouchou had ever been to the Osaka Festival of Lights before. We didn't see project mapping at that time. We enjoyed food stands and illumination more. So Tomo&Chouchou was curious about projection mapping. Normally we don't like projection mapping so much. However we loved this projection mapping a lot. Projection mapping was held at Osaka City Central Public Hall [Japanese: 大阪市中央公会堂]. Osaka City Public Hall and projection mapping were matching very well. The hall changed every moment. There was a story. We could understand Japanese culture. We could also enjoy western culture. We can feel the nature such as flowers, wind, fish and water flow. We can also feel the history, architecture, mystery and so on. It was the most successful projection mapping that we had ever seen. It was very colorful. It was fast. We felt the movement of the lights. We saw this show two or three times! We were never bored!

For your information, 

Osaka decided not to have the projection mapping at Osaka City Public Hall in 2021 because many people would gather and stop to see the projection mapping. It was the reason to avoid infection. However there is a projection mapping on the wall of the Museum of Oriental Ceramics [東洋陶磁美術館]. The robot senses the movement of the people who walk along the wall. Then it projects the figure. So it encourages not to stop. Anyway we can enjoy projection mapping somehow in 2021.

Episode of Reykjavik

Tomo & Chouchou went on a trip to Iceland from France. We had booked the airtickets & hotel together with special price through Icelandair website. We had also booked day trip tours on their website. We could prepare our trip well thanks to Icelandair.
It was the first time for us to take an Icelandair. Icelandic pictures are painted on the door of the closet in the cabin of Icelandair. It was very cute. I had never seen such a pretty interior design of the cabin.
We arrived at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland. Keflavik International Airport is located 50km west from the capital: Reykjavik. Keflavik Int'l Airport is the largest airport in Iceland. But we didn't feel that it was so big. Anyway it was a pretty airport with Icelandic decorations.
Tomo & Chouchou had booked an airport express bus organized by
Iceland Excursions Gray Line from Keflavik Int'l Airport to the hotel. We could find the reception of Gray Line in front of the exit of arrival gate. Then Gray Line sent us off the hotel that we had booked.
After checking in the hotel, we walked around in the center of Reykjavik. We walked until the harbor, then we found the big building "Harpa Concert Hall".
Interior design of concert hall was sparkling.
While walking, we found a church called Hallgrímskirkja in the center of the city. As it is said that Hallgrimskirkja(=church of Hallgrimur) is the largest church in Iceland and the sixth tallest architectural structure in Iceland, it was a very tall church. We had never seen such a unique-design church.
We could see the landscape of Reykjavik from the tower of the church of Hallgrimur.
To go up the tower by elevator, it costs 500ISK (at that time, it now costs 1000ISK in 2021). On the day Tomo & Chouchou went up the tower, there was a shower and strong wind. It was cold. But it was nice to see the sea around Reykjavik from the tower.
Inside church, white walls and illumination are very beautiful.
At night, Hallgrimskirkja is lit up and changes the appearance.
Basically Iceland is very safe even at night. We could enjoy Iceland all the day !

Advice for traveling in Reykjavik

(1) Icelandair sells airticket & hotel together with special price. Icelandair provides several plans according to the season. We can find many tours on Icelandair website. We could travel well with their tours. Please check it out !

(2) We recommend airport express bus organized by Iceland Excursions Gray Line from Keflavik International Airport to the hotel. We can find the reception of Gray Line in front of the exit of arrival gate. Gray Line can send us off almost all the hotels in Reykjavik. Easy to find the reception of Gray Line. It is just in front of the exit of arrival gate.
