Episode of Maracanã Stadium [Estádio do Maracanã]

Tomo&Chouchou went to the Maracanã Stadium [Estádio do Maracanã] in Rio de Janeiro which was constructed for FIFA World Cup in 1950, and which was also famous for Maracanazo (Maracanaço).

On the floor of entrance of Maracana Stadium, there was Calçada da Fama do Estádio do Maracanã where footprints of famous great football players such as Zico, Pelé, Ronaldo etc. are. We were alrady excited to see them at the entrance!
When we enterd inside, we could see the big field. We were so excited to be in the stadium where so many famous football players had been playing.
We could also enter the waiting room of the players at Maracana stadium. It was very interesting to see players' locker room, bathtubs, shower room and the corridor for the players from the locker room to the pitch. On the wall of this corridor from the locker room to the pitch, there were many photos of successive football players. It was very enjoyable to see them.
Of course, it is fun to see the football match but also it's enjoyable to see the secret area where only players can enter.
We were so satisfied with such a special experience! We think we will be able to enjoy watching soccer game more as we know the player's waiting room. :-)
It was very valuable trip in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil!

FYI, 2014 FIFA World Cup took place in Brazil. The final match of 2014 World Cup was played at Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics took place in Estádio do Maracanã.
Maracana stadium was partially rebuilt for 2014 FIFA World Cup. When Tomo&Chouchou went to Maracana stadium, it was in 2006. So these photos of Maracana stadium was based in 2006.

Tomo&Chouchou's advice for visiting Maracana stadium

When there are events or football match, or when it's on weekends, it's not open for visitors. We advise you to check in advance if you visit the stadium.
